Move-In & Move-Out Cleaning Checklist

  1. 1. Move-Out Prep

    Photograph every room before you start. Forward mail and schedule utility shutoffs. Remove all personal items and food. Collect spare keys, fobs, and remotes. Reserve the elevator or loading dock.

  2. 2. Kitchen Appliances

    Empty and wipe inside the fridge and freezer. Self-clean or scrub the oven interior. Run a clean cycle on the dishwasher. Clean the microwave inside and out. Degrease the range hood and filter.

  3. 3. Cabinets & Counters

    Wipe out cabinet interiors and shelves. Vacuum drawers and clean the tracks. Degrease the counters and backsplash. Polish the sink, faucet, and drain. Disinfect cabinet fronts and hardware.

  4. 4. Bathrooms

    Descale the showerhead and tile grout. Scrub the tub and glass doors. Clean and disinfect the toilet. Polish the vanity, mirror, and chrome. Re-caulk any cracked seams.

    Patch nail and screw holes. Touch up paint scuffs and marks. Dust shelves and closet rods. Wipe baseboards and window sills. Sweep and vacuum the closet floor.

    Vacuum upholstery and under cushions. Dust electronics and decor. Wipe down doors and frames. Clean light fixtures and ceiling fans. Sweep cobwebs from ceiling corners.

  7. 7. Walls, Doors & Trim

    Spot-clean scuffs and fingerprints. Wipe switch plates and outlet covers. Clean the inside face of each door. Wipe door frames and casings. Dust crown molding and chair rails.

  8. 8. Windows & Blinds

    Wash the interior side of the glass. Vacuum and wipe the blinds. Clean window tracks and sills. Dust curtain rods and wash linens. Wipe down window frames.

  9. 9. Floors & Stairs

    Vacuum carpets and edge trim. Spot-treat carpet stains. Mop all hard floors toward the exit. Wipe baseboards after the floors. Vacuum the stairs top to bottom.

  10. 10. Final Handoff

    Empty every trash can and bin. Photograph every room after cleaning. Remove or leave items as agreed. Lock all windows and doors. Leave keys, fobs, and garage remotes.
